What age level is Kumon Math 4A designed for?
Kumon Math 4A is the equivalent level of 4 years old.
In Kumon, the A materials for any subject are at the level equivalent to 6 years old. 2 and 3A are for 5 year olds, 4A and 5A are for 4 year olds, and 6A and below are for 3 year olds... I think it is generally correct to assume that the Kumon A materials are at the level equivalent to 6 year olds, since children under 2 years old study in a different material called "Baby Kumon.

The aims of the Kumon Arithmetic 4A materials are as follows
To improve students' ability to write numbers 1-50, to deepen their understanding of number sequences through reading and writing number tables, and to develop the ability to move on to the 3A materials. The goal for reading number tables is 100.
Although the importance of penmanship was high in 5A as well, it is fair to say that almost all of the content in 4A is centered on penmanship. Reading numbers and understanding number sequences will continue to be tested, but they are treated as an adjunct to writing.

Trace and write numbers from 1 to 10. There are illustrations and assistance with stroke order, making this a good first step to writing numbers.

This course is designed to help students practice writing numbers in a blank space, rather than tracing them. The numbers will be written with a model so that students will be able to correctly write the shape of the numbers without assistance.
Numbers to 50
In this course, students will not only write numbers, but also understand the sequence of numbers and write them in the form of fill-in-the-blanks, combining the skills acquired in 5A with the writing skills practiced in 4A.
The focus is on "writing numbers," which will be the foundation for future study.
The size of the numbers we will cover is the same as before, and since we already had material for reading numbers up to 100 in 5A, there will be no numbers that we will see for the first time in 4A.
Instead, students will need to be able to write numbers that they could only read before.
In 5A, you still needed to be able to write, but instead of writing the numbers themselves, you were asked to draw a line through the order of the numbers. 4A requires a more advanced ability to write the numbers themselves, so you will need to have a higher level of stroke control.

Diverse skills are needed to write numbers.
- Maintaining balance throughout the letter.

- Remembering the shape and stroke order of numbers.
Because of the complex skills required, it is more important to use a variety of approaches than to use any one effective approach.
For example, coloring books are effective in increasing the awareness of writing within the frame. Drawing will create a sense of overall balance. Posters of numbers in the house will make it easier to remember the shapes of numbers. Kumon Japanese and Zun Zun will improve your writing skills themselves.
Because of the comprehensive skills required, Kumon Math 4A is a time-consuming place. Take your time with the approach and move on to the next material.
